Pakistani Cricket Opener, Ahmed Shehzad Makes Some Bold Revelations About His Teammates

Ahmed Shehzad made his first debut on the Pakistan cricket team in 2009. Furthermore, he played 59 T20I matches, 81 ODIs, and 31 Tests.

Ahmed Shehzad recently shared how his Pakistan cricket teammates made a bad impression of him. Furthermore, Shehzad said how they planned his ouster from the Men in Green. The 30 years old was last seen playing in an ODI and Test in 2017 and a T20I for Pakistan in 2019.

Now, Shehzad has shared that there were more factors to him not being a consistent starter for his cricket team. Moreover, he also claimed that back then, some of his Pakistan cricket teammates did not want him on the team. This was the same case with middle-order batsman Umar Akmal.

While talking to Cricket Pakistan, here is what Ahmed Shehzad claimed:

“Some of my teammates tried to associate my name with Umar Akmal by planning to give a negative impression regarding me. This was a pre-planned approach and they wanted to kill two birds with one stone. I will not say their name but I will not make this public. It started from within the team.”

While speaking he also gave an example of Indian cricketer, Virat Kohli who flourished when MS Dhoni was the captain of the team. He further spat more facts that the senior players of Pakistan cannot digest the success of another cricketer in their squad.

Shehzad added, “I have said this before, and I will say it again, Kohli’s career picked off amazingly because he found MS Dhoni but unfortunately, here in Pakistan, your people cannot stand your success. Our senior players and ex-cricketers cannot digest seeing someone succeed in the cricketing world, which is unfortunate for Pakistan cricket.”

Ahmed Shehzad Blames Waqar Younis says: “Their Words Hurt My Career”

Sources say that Shehzad was tipped by many to reach soaring heights. Unfortunately, due to poor run form and several injuries, he was always seen in and out out of his team. Now, Shehzad has opened up about his departure from his team in 2016 and blames Pakistan coach Younis for it.

According to the sources, the coach had submitted a report where he said that Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal should play domestic cricket if they want to get their old spot back in the Pakistan national team. These comments by Younis made the opening batter, Ahmed Shehzad upset. He said that such discussions should be done face to face.

“I have not seen the report myself, but a PCB official told me that these remarks have been said regarding me. But I believe that these things should be discussed face-to-face, and I am ready to take on that challenge. Then we will see who is right and who is wrong. Their words hurt my career, especially since I was not allowed to present my case. This was a pre-planned approach, and they wanted to kill two birds with one stone,” Shehzad said.

So, it’s pretty clear that  Neither Pakistan coach nor Umar Akbal has shared their views on this. We will have to wait for their comments. We will add more articles if we get more bytes about this topic. Till then you can enjoy reading other cricket-related articles.
