Indian Women’s Cricket Team Member Tests Positive For Covid-19 Before CWG 2022!!

On 21st July, the President of BCCI named Sourav Ganguly revealed big unfortunate news about the Indian women’s cricket team.

He stated that one player of the Indian women’s team tested positive for Covid-19 before the beginning of Commonwealth Game 2022, which will start on 29th July.

The name of the player is still hidden under the box but it’s very disheartening news as this is the first time when women’s cricket has been included in CWG.

All the matches are supposed to be played at Edgbaston Cricket Ground and the bronze and gold medal matches will begin on 7th August.

Not only the female cricketer, but one cricketer from the Indian men’s team also tested positive for Covid-19. His name is KL Rahul and he was undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

He was selected for India’s T20I squad against West Indies but now his presence is doubtful.

30 years old KL Rahul who’s currently the vice-captain of the Indian team, hasn’t been in action since the IPLs of 2022.

And now when he got the opportunity to outshine his talent, he was tested positive but until now his name was not erased from the squad list, so maybe he will recover and come back with double power!

Overall eight teams are participating in the CWG which are divided into groups of two, four teams each. Participating teams in Group A are India, Australia, Barbados, and Pakistan while Sri Lanka, England, South Africa, and New Zealand are in Group B.

Team India has impressed everyone with their mind-blowing performance in the quadrennial games. They recently toured Sri Lanka for the six white-ball matches and as per their performance maybe they will come with good news anytime!
