Indian cricket fans were not happy when Team India was let down after pulling out of the final game in the test match.
Sources say that the Indian Team gave more effort and dedication to the Indian Premier League (IPL) than Test cricket.
Indian Cricket Team Didn’t Do Well In Test Matches
The Indian team suffered a heavy loss after losing the final morning match. Indeed, the Indian Premier League is one of the most played and important T20 tournaments worldwide.
However, a section of the cricket fraternity is heavily criticizing this tournament.
Many cricket fans are blaming the Indian Premier League for numerous reasons. And recently, Paul Newman, a former English cricketer shared his point of view at the T20 league.
Paul Newman Talks About The Performance Of The Indian Cricket Team In The Test Series
Paul Newman recently shared his point regarding the Indian Premier League before the rescheduled Test between India and England.
He said that the Indian team gave more priority to the Indian Premier League above all test matches. He even shared that players didn’t show any kind of commitment to finish the series last year.
Notably, the Indian team also gathered in England for a trip that was supposed to last for three weeks including the postponed Test, three T20Is, and as many ODIs.
Here is what Paul Newman allegedly wrote in his latest column for The Daily Mail UK.
“The arrival of India to complete a Test series that should have ended at Old Trafford last summer is a reminder of how they let down the paying public and Test cricket by pulling out of the final game on the morning of the match.
It was laughable when the cancellation was blamed on Covid concerns and a game India never wanted to play was abandoned when they put the IPL before Test cricket and set a dangerous precedent.”
Apart from Newman, many cricket players accused the IPL of the tour’s midway postponement. Recently Michael Vaughan, a former England captain, also noticed something similar.
“IPL teams chartering planes .. 6 days quarantining required in the UAE .. 7 days till the tournament starts !!!! Don’t tell me the Test was canceled for any other reason but the IPL ..” the former skipper tweeted.
Recently, India and England played the rescheduled Test match and lost to England. From July 1, the next test matches are set to begin at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Due to several reasons, including Covid-positive cases in the Indian camp, that led to postponed matches from being played at Old Trafford last year.
And the same thing happened again this year where Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s presence was missed because he tested positive. As of now, he is in isolation.
