Led By Nathan Lyon’s Fifer, Australia Bundled Sri Lanka Out For 212; Trailed By 114 At End Of Day 1
In the Sri Lanka Vs Australia test series, Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne won the toss and chose to bat. And Openers Pathum Nissanka and Karunaratne had decent starts for SL. both Starc and Cummins were unable to take a wicket. Then Lyon returned bowling figures of 5-90.
So far, Khawaja was unbeaten, and his score was 7. Later, Australia ended the 1st day of the Test series on 98/3 – trailing 114 runs from Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 212. However, on day 1, 13 wickets fell, and AUS bowled out Sl for 212 in their first innings. Later, the Lyon-led team went to bat, and reached 98/3 at stumps and trailing by 114 runs.
Ramesh Mendis, a Sri Lankan off-spinner had Marnus Labuschagne (13) caught by Asitha Fernando and dismissed David Warner (25) lbw during the AUS’s innings to finish the day on 2-35. Australia Beats Sri Lanka By Bowling Ugly
In the beginning, Pathum Nissanka and Captain Karunaratne opened for Sri Lanka’s batting and made 38 runs before the first wicket. Earlier, leg spinner Mitchell Swepson had 3-55 and Lyon returned bowling figures of 5-90 to help the Australian bowling. In the meantime, Niroshan Dickwella completed a half-century for Sri Lanka with 58. Later, he added 42 runs for the sixth wicket along with Angelo Mathews (39) after Sl lost 5 wickets for 97 runs for the 7th wicket with Mendes (22).
Next, Sri Lanka continued the innings after the short tea break at 191-6. Mendis, who added just two runs, was out lbw by Lyon and ended his partnership with Dickwella. In the 37th over, Australia’s second spinner Mitchell Swepson took two wickets consequently. To conclude, we can say that The bowling of Australia has been superb, and so is their batting while playing against Sri Lanka. They took out many wickets of Sri Lanka and have decided to chase the score of 212 made by SL. The second day of the test match looked promising, and fans were already sure that Australia was going to win.
